| I’ve had dogs around me my whole life, big ones (Rottweilers),
and that is a lovely breed, starting with Odin, then later on Emil,
Susse and Zippo – all trained and very behaved and nice.
After having lost Zippo under very sad circumstances, due to lack
of responsibility at a Danish Kennel, who let him stay in his box
for 14 days with blood coming out of him – withouth telling me, the
result was, that even the Danish vet hospital did everything they
could to save him, we lost him.

This just shows, that if you don’t have any other opportunity to
have your pet been taken care of, while you are on a holiday – ohh, I
really don’t have any advice. This particular kennel, was where we
trained our dogs on their field, with jumps and other trainings,
that is in the police training program – so, you can never be sure.
After having been without a dog for some time, I started searching
for a Dandie Dinmont, which I had first seen on TV in a Crufts show,
back in 92’, and I was completely charmed by that little proud –
funny looking fellow, but at that time – I did not know where to
find one, even though I tried my best.
Dandies are not easy to find, that is why I hope this site, and
the links to other Dandie owners/breeders will hopefully help
newcomers in the great Dandie world to get easier about it.
But finally, through different people´s help abroad, I managed to
find a Dandie (Albert).
I went abroad to see him when he was 5 weeks old, and then few
weeks later – I went abroad again to bring him home. He is an
everyday joy. He is funny, charming, playfull, and intelligent. He
is not (sadly) a show dog, but never mind.

About 1˝ year after Albert´s arrival, I had my second Dandie
(Anna), and also this time I tried to get a dog that could be used
in the breeding, but – again I was unfortunate with that. But never
mind, she is lovely.

Albert is now 3 years old, and Anna is 2 years old.
And now I have a dog for shows, everything is in it’s placeJ
Leo.

Leo comes from Kennel Scottsbairn in Sweden – and he is 17 months
old. Also a pepper Dandie Dinmont.
All 3 dogs are doing great together, never had a problem, and
that’s the thing with Dandies, they are Terriers, but they are
Terriers with a loooong fuse, and very adaptable.

So newcomers, looking for a Dandie? Use all the information you
can get from the links, and elsewhere on the internet.
Getting a dog is getting a new family member.
